C001 - I found a shell

This project is an exploration of forms and high resolution textures. With their layers, spirals and thicknesses, shells hold traces from both their surroundings and their inhabitants. The idea is to create silver fossils from my hoard of collected shells. unpicking their sculptural qualities, modifying and imprinting the calcareous material to make them wearable.
Photo story below by Anne-Lise Agossa, 'a young woman lost at sea begins a ritual to call for Mami Wata, a West African water deity. Originally inspired by Shaha's beautifully sandcasted objects and jewellery, "Mami Wata" is a short film and photo series that explores the transcultural nature that gave life to the image of her that we know today.'
This is a poem and love letter to the sea
